Basic Game-Play Knowledge For Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition -
Thaco: Thaco Vs. Armor Class-- Fighter Thaco 19 - The Goblins 7 Armor Class = 12 This means the player playing the fighter character needs to roll a 12 or higher on a d20 to hit the goblin.
Thaco Vs. Exceptional Armor Class-- If the armor class number looks like this "-2", you do this math. Fighter Thaco 12 + Dragons -2 Armor Class = 14 This means the player playing the fighter character needs to roll a 14 or higher on a d20 to hit the dragon.
Plus one to attack would simply lower the thaco by one, and a plus one to armor class would lower the armor class by one. Ignore the word plus, and considered it an "improvement" by one. ----------------- Skill & Ability Score Check Rolls - Roll below the number listed.
Any plus to these dice rolls raises the target number you must roll(or below) to succeed. ----------------- Saving Throws - Roll above the number listed.
Plus one to a saving throw would lower the saving throw target number by one. Ignore the word plus, and considered it an "improvement" by one. ----------------- Beyond this there are dice rolls for duration and healing, but that is not knowledge all players will need to know.·····HHfVLZJy
